The Southern African Development Research Network, funded by Canada’s IDRC and hosted at Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), invites researchers and policy-makers in both the public and private sector to participate in a training workshop to contribute to the development and implementation of viable regional industrial policies.

TRAINING AND CAPACITY-BUILDING ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION 2005-2006

In 2005 and 2006, TIPS presented a number of courses and workshops on trade data and trade policy geared to assist SADC states in forthcoming trade negotiations. More than 120 policy analysts and researchers in Southern African were trained in trade data manipulation and advanced trade analysis in 2005 alone. About 80 people attended the training courses in 2006, and in each country there are now at least five to 10 people in the policy, research or civil society communities who can competently download, analyse and interpret the data and analytical functions available in the SAD Trade Database.
